As part of our Out There Project we are beginning a community growing space for dye plants and fibres that can be used for weaving and papermaking. We’re hoping to get our own allotment but are starting very locally, using this raised bed in the car park at KS&W.
It measures 5m by 2.5 and has a nice rowan tree in the centre. Our first dye plant seeds arrived this morning from Wild Colours. We’re starting with Woad, Dyers Chamomile and Weld.
We’ve also put out a call for contributions from gardeners who come to KS&W. The first alchemilla plants have already appeared on my desk and have gone straight into the garden bed. Thank you!
